The Silent Competition No One Talks About (But Everyone Is Losing Their Mind Over)
There’s a very specific type of competition that no one admits exists. But it’s everywhere. And the worst part? You’re probably participating in it right now without even realizing.
I’m talking about the “who’s doing better in life” Olympics. No medals. No trophies. Just pure, unnecessary mental stress.
It starts off harmless. You’re just scrolling. Relaxing. Minding your business. And then suddenly—BOOM. Someone your age is doing something impressive.
Excuse me??? Since when did everyone become a productivity influencer??
And now your brain starts acting weird. Because five minutes ago, you were completely fine. Living your life. Drinking water (maybe). Existing peacefully.
But now? Now you’re questioning everything.
Relax. Half of them don’t.
No. Because that doesn’t look aesthetic (okay, maybe a little if we consider the last two words).
So instead, you get the edited version of reality. The version where everyone is productive, glowing, successful, and somehow never tired.
Meanwhile, in real life, people are:
procrastinating
rewatching the same shows
making life plans at 2AM and forgetting them by morning
and pretending they have everything under control
Sound familiar? Exactly.
The real problem isn’t that people are doing well. Good for them, honestly. The problem is when your brain turns it into a competition you never signed up for. Because now, instead of doing things at your own pace, you’re rushing. Comparing. Overthinking. All for what?
Also—quick reminder—people who look like they have everything together are usually just better at hiding the chaos. No one is that perfect. If they were, they wouldn’t be human, they’d be some kind of productivity robot powered by green tea and unrealistic expectations. So maybe… stop competing. Or at least realize that the competition is fake.
Because at the end of the day, everyone’s just trying to figure things out while pretending they already have. Some are just better actors. And honestly? Respect to them for the performance.
